NVIDIA Launches Nemotron Coalition to Build Open Frontier Models With Eight Partners

· Updated

NVIDIA announced the Nemotron Coalition at GTC 2026, uniting Mistral AI, Cursor, Perplexity, LangChain, and four other labs to build open frontier foundation models. The first base model, codeveloped with Mistral AI, will be open-sourced as the Nemotron 4 foundation.

NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition is a global collaboration where open model builders and AI labs pool research, data, and compute to advance frontier-level open foundation models. Inaugural members include Black Forest Labs, Cursor, LangChain, Mistral AI, Perplexity, Reflection AI, Sarvam, and Thinking Machines Lab — each contributing domain-specific expertise from multimodal generation to agentic coding evaluation.

The coalition's first project is a base model codeveloped by Mistral AI and NVIDIA, trained on NVIDIA DGX Cloud. Coalition members will contribute data, evaluations, and domain expertise during post-training. The resulting model will be open-sourced and underpin the upcoming Nemotron 4 family, giving developers and organizations a shared foundation to specialize AI for their industries, regions, and needs.

Watch for the open-sourced Nemotron 4 base model — once released, it's a foundation you can post-train and specialize for your own domain, region, or use case.
