Mistral AI Joins NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition to Co-Develop Open Frontier Models

Mistral AI has joined the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition as a founding member, partnering to co-develop frontier open-source AI models. Mistral contributes its model architectures, multimodal capabilities, and enterprise-grade fine-tuning tools, while NVIDIA provides DGX Cloud compute, synthetic-data generation pipelines, and development tooling. The partnership builds on their prior collaboration on the Mistral Nemo model.

The coalition unites multiple leading AI labs under a shared commitment to open model development. The first initiative is a base model trained on NVIDIA DGX Cloud that will underpin the upcoming NVIDIA Nemotron 4 family — all open-sourced for post-training and specialization. By pooling compute and expertise, the coalition aims to reduce duplication and accelerate progress across the open-source AI ecosystem.
