HeyGen Launches Codex Plugin to Turn Engineering Agents Into Video Workspaces
HeyGen· Updated
HeyGen released an official plugin for OpenAI Codex that integrates its HyperFrames video-as-code framework directly into the developer environment. The update allows users and agents to code, edit, and render professional videos within a single workspace, transforming video production into a programmable engineering workflow.
This integration follows HeyGen's open-sourcing of HyperFrames and mirrors OpenAI's Codex plugin architecture for external tool access. By moving video production into the IDE (integrated development environment), HeyGen enables AI agents to treat motion graphics as a native code output rather than a separate manual export process.
You can now install the plugin with one click to code, edit, render, and ship videos directly within the Codex workspace. This is the first of several planned integrations between HeyGen and OpenAI developers, matching OpenAI's rapid Codex release cycle. The HyperFrames repository is open-source under the Apache 2.0 license on GitHub.
