Google releases Veo 3.1 Lite for high volume video at half cost

· Updated

Google introduced Veo 3.1 Lite, a cost-effective entry in its video generation model family. It supports text-to-video and image-to-video generation in 720p and 1080p resolutions. The model offers flexible framing for landscape and portrait aspect ratios, with customizable durations of four, six, or eight seconds.

This release addresses the primary barrier to production-grade AI video: high inference costs. Veo 3.1 Lite delivers the same generation speed as Veo 3.1 Fast at less than 50% of the cost. This shift allows for high-volume video applications that were previously too expensive to operate at scale.

Access the model today through the paid tier of the Gemini API or for testing within Google AI Studio. Pricing scales based on video duration. A price reduction for the existing Veo 3.1 Fast model also takes effect on April 7, 2026, lowering the barrier for video integration.
