Cursor 2.5 lets agents pull context from past conversations — earlier sessions become referenceable when tackling related tasks. The release also introduces plugins: bundled packages that install skills, MCP servers, subagents, hooks, and rules in one step. The Cursor Marketplace launches with partners including Amplitude, AWS, Figma, Linear, and Stripe, covering design, payments, analytics, and deployment workflows.
Subagents are now async — they run in the background while the parent agent continues, and can spawn their own sub-subagents for coordinated multi-file work. The sandbox adds granular network controls via sandbox.json, with enterprise admins able to enforce org-wide egress policies from the admin dashboard.
