Anthropic Adds Natural Language Model Selection to Claude Dispatch Orchestrator

· Updated

Anthropic updated Dispatch, the orchestration layer for Claude Cowork and Claude Code, to support natural language model selection. When delegating a task, you can now explicitly name a specific model to handle that session. This feature is currently available in the latest version of the Claude desktop application.

As agentic workflows move toward multi-step cowork sessions, the ability to route specific tasks to specific models becomes a critical efficiency lever. Instead of relying on a default orchestrator choice, you can now manually assign a high-reasoning model for complex refactors while using faster, more cost-effective models for routine research.

To use the new model selection feature, ensure you are running the latest version of the Claude desktop app. While currently limited to desktop cowork and code sessions, the team is exploring support for CLI sessions. Recent stability improvements have also been rolled out for the mobile app and CLI.

Dispatch can now start coding tasks with specific models. Tell it to use a specific model in natural language. We want to keep making Dispatch the most useful place to delegate Cowork and Code tasks. How can we make Dispatch better for coding use-case? https://t.co/aiHR7ATzmr
