OpenRouter Launches Model Fusion to Synthesize Best Responses From Multiple LLMs

· Updated

OpenRouter launched Model Fusion, an experimental feature in its Labs environment for multi-model ensemble workflows. Users can select several frontier models—such as GPT-5.4, Claude Opus 4.6, and Gemini 3.1 Pro—to process a prompt simultaneously. The system executes a pre-fuse judging step to evaluate outputs before generating a final result.

This shift moves beyond simple model routing toward automated orchestration and synthesis. While developers often manually compare model outputs to find the most accurate answer, this tool productizes the "Model-as-a-Judge" pattern. In testing, specialized agents preferred these fused responses over their own native outputs, suggesting a path to higher reliability.

You can customize the final judge model to control how the synthesis occurs, choosing between quality-focused or budget-conscious configurations. The feature is currently available as a public experiment without a subscription requirement. It allows you to test how different combinations of models handle specific domain-heavy or creative queries.

New public experiment: Model Fusion Use multiple models, analyze outputs, and fuse the results for a response that every Deep Research agent preferred to its own, in our testing. No subscription needed at all. https://t.co/ID4mCB8BtH
