OpenCode brings DeepSeek V4 Pro to its open source coding agent

OpenCode integrated the newly released DeepSeek V4 Pro model into its open-source coding agent platform. This update allows developers to use the massive Mixture-of-Experts model for autonomous multi-file editing and complex reasoning tasks. The integration provides immediate access to the model for users who connect their own provider credentials.

OpenCode, an open-source AI coding agent supporting 75+ providers, integrated DeepSeek V4 Pro, matching the DeepSeek V4 Pro launch. This massive Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model (an architecture activating only a fraction of its parameters per request) is designed for advanced reasoning tasks.

This follows a rapid series of updates where OpenCode added Tencent Hy3 and Xiaomi MiMo v2.5. The move is part of a broader shift toward day-zero inference support for frontier models, allowing developers to swap in the latest models for agentic coding (AI that autonomously plans and executes multi-step software tasks) without waiting for proprietary IDE updates.

Access the model by running the /connect command in the OpenCode terminal and selecting the DeepSeek provider. After entering an API key from the DeepSeek platform, select DeepSeek-V4-Pro to drive autonomous terminal-based workflows. The model is available now for all OpenCode users with their own credentials.

Still wondering? A few quick answers below.

To use the model, run the connect command in the OpenCode terminal interface and search for the DeepSeek provider. You must then enter your API key from the DeepSeek platform. Once connected, run the models command to select DeepSeek-V4-Pro as your active model for autonomous agentic coding tasks.

DeepSeek V4 Pro is a language model integrated into the OpenCode platform for advanced coding tasks. It is part of the DeepSeek V4 series and is used for engineering workflows. Users can select this model to power the autonomous agentic capabilities of OpenCode, such as multi-file editing and terminal-based execution.

You can generate an API key by creating an account on the official DeepSeek platform website. Once you have signed in, navigate to the console and select the option to create a new API key. This key is required to authenticate the DeepSeek provider within the OpenCode terminal interface and access the model.
