Midjourney Opens V8 Community Test with 5x Speed and 2K Resolution

Midjourney is testing V8 with its community — faster generation with native 2K resolution and improved prompt following. V8 runs 5x faster than V7, renders natively at 2K via the --hd flag, with stronger text rendering and best-ever personalization.

Midjourney is opening V8 to community testing. Generation speed is ~5x faster than V7, and the new --hd flag renders images natively at 2K resolution. Text in images works better when phrases are wrapped in "quotes." The --q 4 mode adds extra coherence. V8 is backward compatible with V7 personalization profiles, moodboards, and style references (sref). Relax mode is not yet available, and --hd, --q 4, SREF, and Moodboard jobs currently run 4x slower and cost 4x more.

This brings Midjourney's best personalization, sref, and moodboard performance yet into a significantly faster pipeline. The model follows detailed directions more closely and produces more coherent, detailed images than V7.

Try V8 on the Midjourney alpha site. Midjourney recommends using --raw for controlled styles, leaning on personalization profiles, and writing longer, more specific prompts to get the most from the new model.
