--hd flag renders images natively at 2K resolution. Text in images works better when phrases are wrapped in "quotes." The --q 4 mode adds extra coherence. V8 is backward compatible with V7 personalization profiles, moodboards, and style references (sref). Relax mode is not yet available, and --hd, --q 4, SREF, and Moodboard jobs currently run 4x slower and cost 4x more.This brings Midjourney's best personalization, sref, and moodboard performance yet into a significantly faster pipeline. The model follows detailed directions more closely and produces more coherent, detailed images than V7.
Try V8 on the Midjourney alpha site. Midjourney recommends using --raw for controlled styles, leaning on personalization profiles, and writing longer, more specific prompts to get the most from the new model.
