Google DeepMind Partners With Korea to Launch AI Campus
Google DeepMind· Updated
Google DeepMind and the Republic of Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT signed a partnership to accelerate scientific discovery through a new AI Campus in Seoul. The collaboration provides Korean researchers with direct access to frontier models for genomics, protein folding, and climate prediction to drive national economic growth.
The partnership mirrors Anthropic's Australian infrastructure partnership where frontier labs integrate with government scientific agendas. By embedding its "AI for Science" suite into Korea's upcoming National AI for Science Center, Google DeepMind secures a high-density innovation market. This move positions specialized models as the foundation for national economic growth.
Researchers at KAIST can now leverage the AI co-scientist, which builds on the Deep Research multi-agent system to brainstorm and verify hypotheses. The collaboration also introduces AlphaEvolve for algorithm optimization and WeatherNext for climate modeling. The deal includes internship opportunities and safety research with the Korean AI Safety Institute.
