Claude Can Now Use Your Computer to Complete Tasks for You

Anthropic has added computer use to Claude Cowork, letting Claude execute tasks on your desktop the way you would — opening applications, browsing the web, managing files, and building spreadsheets based on your instructions. Claude works through each step, looping you in before anything significant and waiting for your approval before it acts.

The update also introduces scheduled tasks, so recurring desk work like weekly reports or daily email scans can run automatically once you set them up. Tasks can be initiated from your phone through Dispatch and completed on your desktop, making remote delegation practical for everyday workflows.

Computer use is available on Pro and Max plans for both macOS and Windows through the Claude desktop app. If you've been doing repetitive screen-level work manually, this is the capability to try first.
