It’s now easier to find, reuse, and build on the files you upload and create in ChatGPT. You can quickly reference files in a chat using recent files in the toolbar, ask ChatGPT about something you’ve uploaded, or browse your files in the new Library tab in the web sidebar. Rolling out globally for Plus, Pro, and Business users, and coming soon to users in the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK.
ChatGPT Now Makes It Easier to Find and Reuse Your Files
OpenAI· Updated
OpenAI rolls out improved file management in ChatGPT with a new Library tab and quick file reference for Plus, Pro, and Business users. Instead of re-uploading files every conversation, you can now pull up past uploads directly from the toolbar.
This addresses one of ChatGPT's longest-standing friction points — files were essentially trapped in the conversation where you uploaded them. The Library tab turns uploads into persistent assets you can reference anytime, which changes how useful ChatGPT becomes for document-heavy workflows.
The rollout covers Plus, Pro, and Business users globally, with EEA, Switzerland, and UK access coming soon. If you regularly upload reports, data files, or reference docs, check the sidebar for the new Library tab.
