Perplexity Integrates Multi-Model Computer Agent Into Core Microsoft 365 Apps
Perplexity, an AI-powered answer engine, integrated its Computer agentic orchestration layer—a system that coordinates multiple AI models—into Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. This follows the Microsoft Teams Computer integration and provides access via a native side panel. The system automatically routes requests across 20 frontier models.

Perplexity reports that 40% of its users were already manually moving AI outputs into Microsoft formats; embedding the agent removes the need to copy and paste. By grounding responses in real-time web data, the platform positions itself as a verifiable digital worker.
You can now build Excel models, generate PowerPoint decks, and draft Outlook replies. The integration is available via the Microsoft Marketplace for Pro, Max, and Enterprise-tier subscribers. Admins can manage deployment through the Microsoft 365 admin center, with enterprise-grade security features like SAML SSO and audit logs included.

Perplexity Computer is an agentic AI orchestration layer that now runs as a native side panel inside Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. It allows users to perform multi-step tasks like drafting documents, building financial models, and generating slide decks by coordinating across more than 20 different frontier AI models.
The integration is available for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. These join the existing integration for Microsoft Teams that launched earlier this month. Users can install the specific add-ins from the Microsoft Marketplace to access the Perplexity side panel directly within their primary workspace for document creation, data analysis, and email management.
The Microsoft 365 integration is available to all paying Perplexity customers, including those on Pro, Max, Enterprise Pro, and Enterprise Max plans. Usage within these apps tracks against existing credit limits for each tier. Admins can deploy the plugins to specific users or groups through the standard Microsoft 365 admin center.
Perplexity uses an enterprise-grade security layer that includes SAML SSO, audit logs, and granular administrative controls. Crucially, enterprise data is never used to train underlying language models and remains within the customer's tenant boundary. Admins can also manage which external connectors, such as SharePoint or Salesforce, the agent is allowed to access.
In Excel, the agent can build and update complex spreadsheets like three-statement financial models and discounted cash flow analyses. It pulls data from the live web and licensed sources like FactSet or Snowflake, ensuring every figure is cited. Users can also perform cross-workbook variance checks and reason over data directly within the sheet.
