Perplexity API Becomes Full-Stack Model-Agnostic Agent Building Platform

Perplexity expanded its API platform into a full-stack, model-agnostic infrastructure for agent development. Instead of stitching together separate providers for LLM calls, search, and embeddings, developers get all three layers from one platform — built on the same infrastructure that runs Perplexity's own products.

This consolidation matters because agent pipelines today require developers to manage multiple vendor relationships, API keys, and integration surfaces. Having the model layer, web search, and embeddings under a unified API reduces that operational overhead.

Builders can now run their entire agent stack — LLM calls, web search, embeddings, and code execution — under a single Perplexity API key, using the Sandbox API for deterministic computation tasks that previously required a separate execution environment.
