OpenClaw Adds Durable Task Flows for Persistent Background Agent Orchestration
· Updated
OpenClaw 2026.4.2 restores the core Task Flow substrate, enabling durable state tracking and recovery for background orchestration. This release also centralizes provider transport policy for OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini, ensuring that routing fails closed on malformed hints. Additionally, it introduces native Android assistant entrypoints via Google Assistant App Actions.
As agents move toward multi-step autonomous loops, reliability becomes the primary bottleneck. Durable task flows solve this by providing managed-vs-mirrored sync modes, allowing tasks to survive connection drops or restarts. Hardening provider boundaries prevents security leaks where proxied or spoofed hosts might otherwise inherit native model defaults.
Deploy the update now via the official GitHub repository. If you use xAI or Firecrawl plugins, you must run openclaw doctor --fix to migrate legacy configurations to new plugin-owned paths. Host execution now defaults to a no-prompt mode, though you can still configure manual approvals for specific communication channels.
