OpenAI is acquiring Promptfoo, an AI security platform that helps enterprises identify and remediate vulnerabilities in AI systems during development. Once finalized, Promptfoo's technology will be integrated directly into OpenAI Frontier, the platform for building and operating AI coworkers. The acquisition includes both Promptfoo's enterprise capabilities and its widely used open-source CLI and library for evaluating and red-teaming LLM applications.

This brings automated security testing and red-teaming capabilities natively into Frontier, helping enterprises detect risks like prompt injections, jailbreaks, data leaks, and out-of-policy agent behaviors before deployment. Having these safeguards built into the platform addresses a critical gap as enterprises deploy AI agents into real workflows where evaluation, security, and compliance become foundational requirements.

You can explore Promptfoo's open-source capabilities today to evaluate and secure your own LLM applications, with the integrated enterprise features coming to Frontier once the acquisition closes.

We’re acquiring Promptfoo. Their technology will strengthen agentic security testing and evaluation capabilities in OpenAI Frontier. Promptfoo will remain open source under the current license, and we will continue to service and support current customers. https://t.co/xhmLmJRoUZ
