Claude now offers memory on the free plan, expanding access beyond paid tiers. The feature stores your preferences and context across conversations so Claude doesn't start fresh each session. Claude also added a memory import tool - copy a generated prompt, paste it to ChatGPT or another assistant, and bring the response back to Claude in one step.
The import feature directly targets switchers. Users who've built months of preferences in ChatGPT or Gemini no longer lose that context when moving to Claude. Combined with free plan access, this lowers both the cost and friction barriers for new users simultaneously.
Enable memory in Claude's Settings under the Memory section. Use the import flow to migrate context from your current AI provider.
