agent-browser Goes Fully Native Rust, 99x Smaller Install Size
· Updated
agent-browser, a browser automation CLI for AI agents, rewrote its Node.js daemon in native Rust — making the entire stack fully Rust. The CLI was already Rust; now the daemon is too. Cold start drops from 1002ms to 617ms (1.6x faster), daemon memory from 143MB to 8MB (18x less), and install size from 710MB to 7MB (99x smaller). The CLI now offers 140+ commands covering navigation, interaction, and state management.
The Node.js daemon was the last abstraction layer between the CLI and the browser — removing it means tighter control and capabilities that weren't previously possible. For AI agents running many browser interactions per task, the 18x memory reduction is significant.
Swap agent-browser into your AI agent workflow and get the smaller footprint, lower memory, and the full Rust stack's additional control.
